San Diegans Show Support for Israel at JNF’s Love of Israel Brunch
April 30, 2015 – San Diego, CA - Jewish National Fund (JNF) will hold its annual Love of Israel Breakfast on Sunday, May 3 at 10 a.m. at the Hilton La Jolla Torrey Pines.
The Love of Israel Brunch is open to the public and JNF welcomes all without regard to religious or secular background. The community is united by its belief in the vital work of the Jewish National Fund in building a prosperous future for the land of Israel and its people.
A diverse mix of people representing San Diego’s communities will join together in a show of support as they gather at this complimentary event.
Attendees will hear an update on JNF projects underway in Israel including ecological development, water renewal, technological and environmental research, historic site preservation, and providing cutting edge rehabilitative services, special education and medical care for people with special needs.
The featured guest speaker is Jay Footlik, former Special Assistant to President Bill Clinton and founding president and CEO of Global Policy Initiatives (GPI), a political and policy development consultancy. Footlike will speak on The Middle East Peace Process: Where to Now?
“Jay Footlik has played a hands-on role in many issues critically important both to the U.S. and to Israel in the Middle East, and we are fortunate to hear from him firsthand at our brunch,” said Myra Fleischer, Love of Israel event chairperson. Fleischer is a prominent family law attorney based in Carlsbad.
A former U.S. Congressional Candidate, Footlik has held various senior positions on numerous political campaigns over the past 25 years, including Bill Clinton’s successful campaign for president in 1992; Senior Middle East Advisor for John Kerry’s Presidential campaign in 2004; and Director of Constituency Outreach for Joe Lieberman’s presidential campaign, among others. He is a frequent speaker on topics ranging from US politics and presidential elections to foreign policy and the Middle East and has lectured extensively to audiences throughout the U.S., Europe, Canada, Israel and Brazil.
Currently, Footlik serves on the board of trustees of the American Council of Young Political Leaders (ACYPL), the board of directors of the American Friends of the Rabin Center and is a founding board member of SAFE (Securing America’s Future Energy), an organization dedicated to reducing America’s dependency on oil.
About The Jewish National Fund
JEWISH NATIONAL FUND (JNF) began in 1901 as a dream and vision to reestablish a homeland in Israel for Jewish people everywhere. Jews the world over collected coins in iconic JNF Blue Boxes, purchasing land and planting trees until ultimately, their dream of a Jewish homeland was a reality. JNF gives all generations of Jews a unique voice in building a prosperous future for the land of Israel and its people.
JNF embodies both heart and action; our work is varied in scope but singular in benefit. We strive to bring an enhanced quality of life to all of Israel’s residents, and translate these advancements to the world beyond. JNF is greening the desert with millions of trees, building thousands of parks, creating new communities and cities for generations of Israelis to call home, bolstering Israel’s water supply, helping develop innovative arid-agriculture techniques, and educating both young and old about the founding and importance of Israel and Zionism.
JNF is a registered 501(c)(3) organization and United Nations NGO, which continuously earns top ratings from charity overseers. For more information on JNF, call 888-JNF-0099 or visit www.jnf.org.
