Sandra Joan Morris named "Super Lawyer" for Alternative Dispute Resolution

Family law attorney and mediator Sandra Joan Morris has been recognized as the only San Diego family law attorney Super Lawyers® honoree for 2014 in the area of Alternative Dispute Resolution.

Super Lawyers® selects attorneys for this honor using a rigorous, multistage process in which peer nominations and evaluations are combined with independent research. Morris’s experience in various alternative dispute resolution methods means other attorneys call upon her to assist in resolving a wide range of legal disputes. She is often brought in to resolve cases no one thought would settle, to find creative solutions.

“This honor is meaningful to me not because of any impressive certificate hanging in my office, but because it represents good results in legal disputes on behalf of attorneys and their clients,” said Morris. “My goal is to help guide all parties to fair solutions and avoid stressful, lengthy and expensive litigation. My reward is when they say they're pleased with the outcome of the alternative dispute resolution process.”

To compile the California Super Lawyers listing, more than 70,000 lawyers from across the state were asked to nominate attorneys they consider as the best in the legal profession. The judging process continued with a screening by a blue-ribbon panel of lawyers. Attorneys who are California Super Lawyers honorees represent fewer than five percent of all attorneys in the state.

Sandra Joan Morris is the Founder and President of the Center for Problem Resolution. Her accomplishments span an impressive range over four decades of law practice. Morris’s name appears on numerous “Best Lawyers” lists including appearing for over 20 years on Best Lawyers in America for family law; Best Lawyers In San Diego by San Diego Magazine (annually since 1983); and Best Lawyers – First Tier Law Firms in US News and World Report since 2010.

Morris was named Family Law Attorney of the Year by the Southern California Chapter of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers, and San Diego Family Law Attorney of the Year by Best Lawyers In America in 2010.

Morris has played an active leadership role in the legal community. She is past chair of the San Diego Certified Family Law Specialists; past president of the Southern California Chapter of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers; and past national president of the AAML. The AAML is recognized as the most prestigious national family law organization in the U.S.

Morris is a Certified Family Law Specialist by the State Bar of California; Fellow, American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers; Diplomate, American College of Family Trial Lawyers; and is a founder of the Lawyers Club of San Diego. She has served as a Judge Pro Tempore in the Family Law Division and in Juvenile Court; and a Settlement Judge in the Family Law Division, all in San Diego County. She has extensive training in arbitration, negotiation, and mediation. Morris is an active member of the Collaborative Family Law Group of San Diego.

Morris is often brought into cases that have little expectation of settlement, because of her history of success in finding creative solutions Morris is asked to serve as a client advocate in a collaborative or mediation process, or in settlement negotiations. She is also called upon to serve as the neutral mediator.
“I am honored by this recognition of the quiet and private successes of the disputes that I settled without court battles,” said Morris.
