Business and Community Leaders Launch Campaign to Protect Consumer Choice
WHAT: Concerned business and community leaders from different economic sectors step forward to announce the launch of a coalition to fight the so-called “big box ordinance” recently passed by the San Diego City Council that will essentially ban large retail stores that sell groceries and pharmacy items.
Committee members will urge Councilmembers to vote to repeal the ordinance in lieu of holding a special election as required by the recently qualified referendum against the ordinance. They will also express their intention to run a strong campaign in favor of the repeal if the question is put to the voters of San Diego.
WHEN: Friday, January 28, 11 a.m.
WHERE: Westgate Hotel, 1055 Second Avenue, San Diego
Ground floor breezeway
WHO: Speakers and attendees include:
- T.J. Zane, Chairman, San Diego Consumers for Choice
- Reverend Timothy Winters
- Reverend Walter G. Wells
- Richard Rider, Chairman, San Diego Tax Fighters
- San Diego Regional Economic Development Corporation
