Gayle Lynn Falkenthal, APR, is President of the Falcon Valley Group, a San Diego based public relations consulting company. Falkenthal spent 15 years as an award-winning broadcast editor and producer with KOGO-AM Radio, KPBS-FM Radio, and KFMB TV Local 8 before transitioning into a public relations career. She represented the American Red Cross, San Diego County District Attorney, San Diego Convention Center Corporation, SanDiego County Water Authority, and then-City Councilmember Dick Murphy before starting her own practice.
Falkenthal is noted for her exceptional expertise in crisis communications, media relations, media training, and strategic planning. The San Diego Press Club honored Falkenthal with the Andy Mace Award for Career Excellence in Public Relations in 1998, one of just 29 individuals with this achievement. She is a Press Club board member and past President; and also sits on the board of the San Diego Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America, San Diego State University Friends of Journalism and Media Studies Alumni Chapter and KCR Radio Alumni Association.
Falkenthal holds Accreditation in Public Relations, which represents the top two percent of all public relations professionals in the United States. She is the Accreditation co-chair for San Diego County, and contributed questions on crisis communications for the Accreditation exam. She earned both her Bachelor of Arts degree and a Master of Science degree in Mass Communication from San Diego State University, and is an adjunct professor in the School of Communication & Media Studies.
