Golf Tournament Sets Fundraising Record to Benefit San Diego Hospice Services
Bereavement programs benefit from a fun day of golf for a good cause
(San Diego) - A record breaking 104 golfers drove, chipped, and putted their way around The Crosby at Rancho Santa Fe on Tuesday, September 1 in the second annual San Diego Hospice Invitational Golf Tournament.
The event exceeded its fundraising goal raising more than $80,000 - an increase of 60% compared to last year's inaugural event - to help fund bereavement programs through The Center for Grief Care at San Diego Hospice, including Camp Erin San Diego, a unique summer camp for children who have suffered the loss of a loved one.
Following the tournament, 126 guests including the golfers enjoyed a silent and boisterous live auction hosted by Master of Ceremonies Bill Menish, a leisurely cocktail hour and a family-style dinner.
Thankful appreciation goes to the generous sponsors including Tournament Sponsor Jack in the Box Foundation, Double Eagle Sponsor Padres Foundation, and Birdie Sponsor Marrokal Design & Remodeling.
San Diego Hospice recognizes and sincerely thanks tournament committee co-chairs Kristy Brehm and Sherry Colter-Long for their superb organization and planning of this successful tournament.
“The tremendous community support we received for this event despite tighter budgets tells us that our programs and services are valued and vitally needed in San Diego,” said Kathleen Pacurar, Vice President of Development.
