Singer Eve Selis & San Diego Symphony Headline
San Diego Hospice’s Light up a Life Celebration Dec. 15
Philanthropist Conrad T. Prebys leads annual tree lighting ceremony

(San Diego) - One of San Diego’s most beloved singers will lend her voice to a cherished holiday tradition. Eve Selis will join San Diego Hospice and The Institute for Palliative Medicine for its 27th annual Light up a Life Celebration, which honors the memory of loved ones for many San Diegans. The event takes place on Tuesday, December 15, at 8 p.m. at the San Diego Civic Theatre (1100 Third Avenue, San Diego).

Selis, winner of "Best Americana Artist" in the 2008 San Diego Music Awards, has been compared to Bonnie Raitt, Melissa Etheridge, and Emmylou Harris. Selis will sing “Where Angels Walk” accompanied by Marc Intravaia and the San Diego Symphony in memory of her late father. The Symphony will also perform at the event.

In honor of loved ones who are no longer with us, San Diego philanthropist Conrad T. Prebys will light the Christmas Tree, and auctioneer/broadcaster Bill Menish will light the Menorah, symbolic of cherished memories for many San Diegans. Admission is free and a holiday dessert reception is provided at the end of the program.

Light up a Life raises funds and awareness for San Diego Hospice and The Institute for Palliative Medicine, a non-profit organization caring for nearly 1,000 seriously ill adults and children each day throughout the county.

A gift of $35 and higher sponsors a light on the tree or menorah, in honor of a loved one. Individuals making tribute gifts of $100 and higher receive a commemorative ornament. Additional sponsorships are also available. Light up a Life has touched thousands of lives since its inception 27 years ago, and continues to help ensure that all terminally ill patients in our community receive the compassionate end-of-life care they deserve, regardless of their ability to pay. To RSVP or for more info, contact the San Diego Hospice Foundation at 619-278-6440.
